President William Ruto today hosted two high-profile leaders, Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Mozambique’s Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levy, at State House, Nairobi, in a day marked by strengthened diplomatic engagement and renewed partnerships across Africa.

During the official visit, President Ruto and President Faye discussed areas of mutual interest, including trade, technology, education, and continental integration, underscoring Kenya’s commitment to deepening South-South cooperation and advancing Africa’s shared prosperity agenda.
In a separate meeting, President Ruto held bilateral talks with Mozambique’s Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Levy, reaffirming the warm and historic relations between Kenya and Mozambique that date back over 50 years. The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in agriculture, the blue economy, and investment, key pillars that continue to drive economic growth between the two nations.

The leaders also reviewed the progress made following President Ruto’s August 2023 State Visit to Mozambique, during which eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed. These agreements cover cooperation in tea, sugar, and coffee value addition, public service training, legal assistance, and blue economy development.
President Ruto and Prime Minister Levy further appreciated the 2018 visa waiver that allows citizens of both countries to travel for up to 90 days visa-free, noting that the move has significantly enhanced people-to-people interactions and business exchanges between Kenya and Mozambique.

The back-to-back engagements reflect Kenya’s growing leadership role in fostering African unity, trade, and strategic partnerships across the continent.
