Malawi Traditional Leaders Attend Successful Mulhakho wa Alhomwe Ceremony

Several paramount chiefs from different tribes, including Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V, Ngwenyama Gomani V, Paramount Chief Kawinga, Paramount Chief Kyungu, and Paramount Chief Lundu, attended the cultural celebration of the Lhomwe people known as Mulhakho wa Alhomwe.

The festival took place at Chonde in Mulanje District, in the Southern Region of Malawi.
It was a successful function, graced by President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, who attended as the Guest of Honour.

The Mulhakho wa Alhomwe is a cultural festival that brings together people of the Lhomwe tribe, one of the major ethnic groups in the Southern part of Malawi, to celebrate and preserve their traditions and identity.

One of the senior officials of the Mulhakho wa Alhomwe organisation, Edward Sawerengera, who presented the history of the group, said the organisation was established in 2007 and has helped to promote unity among the Lhomwe people as well as political leaders.
