By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday returned to Abuja after a 10-day working visit to Lagos, where he held strategic meetings with investors, commissioned major projects, and attended key national events across several states.
His return was confirmed in a statement issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, who noted that the visit was part of the President’s continuous engagement with stakeholders across sectors to consolidate ongoing reforms.
During his stay, Tinubu met with leading investors, including Mr. Bayo Ogunlesi, Chief Executive Officer of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Mr. Keem Belo-Osagie, Chairman of Metis Capital Partners and former Chairman of UBA and Etisalat.
The discussions reportedly focused on boosting infrastructure financing and expanding private sector participation in Nigeria’s economy.
While in Lagos, the President also hosted the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, alongside the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and other top government officials. Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developing Nigeria’s maritime industry as a key alternative to fossil energy and a driver of sustainable economic growth.
Ahead of the country’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the President visited Imo State, where he commissioned several projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma and unveiled a book chronicling ten years of APC governance in Nigeria.
On October 1, President Tinubu delivered the Independence Day broadcast from the State House, Dodan Barracks, Lagos. Later that day, he commissioned the newly renovated National Theatre, renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, where he urged Nigerians to remain positive about the country and united in purpose.
On Saturday, October 4, the President travelled to Jos, Plateau State, to attend the burial of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the Plateau State APC Chairman.
In his tribute, Tinubu praised the late Yilwatda’s virtues and assured Christian communities in Northern Nigeria of his administration’s commitment to fairness, equity, and religious harmony.
The President’s return to Abuja marks the end of a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening national unity and driving investment-led development across key sectors of the economy.
