Seventeen nations have so far secured their places in the 2026 FIFA World Cup as anticipation builds for football’s most prestigious tournament.
With the expanded 48-team format, qualification has intensified, producing early winners from different regions ahead of the global showpiece.
The United States, Mexico, and Canada, as co-hosts, earned automatic qualification, marking the first time the World Cup will be staged across three countries.
The historic joint hosting is expected to deliver a diverse and far-reaching celebration of the game.
In Asia, Japan became the first team to book a spot in March, followed closely by Iran.
New Zealand sealed Oceania’s sole berth with a commanding victory over New Caledonia.
Jordan, South Korea, and Uzbekistan later joined them, while Australia confirmed their place in June.
South America has lived up to expectations with traditional heavyweights leading the charge. Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Colombia have all confirmed participation, ensuring strong continental representation.
Morocco also emerged as the first African side to qualify, raising hopes for more entries from the continent as the qualifiers progress.
Attention now shifts to Europe, Africa, and the remaining Asian teams as the race for the remaining slots continues.
