Malawi Dream Centre Holds Special Prayer Service Ahead of Elections
By Smile Hamilton Malawi
Dream Centre International Assembly today held a special Sunday service, dubbed Malawi Sunday, dedicated to praying for the nation as it prepares for the September 16th general elections.
The service drew hundreds of congregants who gathered to seek God’s guidance and peace during the forthcoming polls. The congregation was encouraged to remain united despite political differences.
Delivering the sermon, Bishop Dr. Andrew Dube preached from Revelation 7:9 under the theme Winning Together. He stressed the importance of prayer in preserving national unity during elections, which he described as both a defining and testing moment for Malawi.
“Elections can make or break a nation, and as Christians, we need to rise in prayer for Malawi. We want to uphold the unity that comes with Christ, so that as we move towards the September 16th general elections, we remain united as one people despite our different choices,” he said.
Bishop Dube also called on leaders and citizens to embrace peace, honesty, and love, reminding the faithful that Malawi’s strength lies in its unity. He emphasized that political competition should not translate into divisions or violence.
Members of the church expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that prayer was key to ensuring that the elections are conducted peacefully. They also committed to taking part in development and reconciliation efforts in their communities.
The event was highlighted with worship sessions, intercessory prayers, and declarations of blessings over the nation, as the church pledged to continue standing in prayer until the election period is over.
