Authorities in Narok County have ordered the immediate closure of Narok Adventist Primary and Junior Secondary School, following the shocking killing of a Grade Nine pupil inside the institution.
The 14-year-old boy’s body was discovered in the dormitory over the weekend, bearing clear signs of violence.
Blood stains were spotted both at the scene and in a nearby washroom, raising alarm over what could have transpired in the hours before his death.
Police have already opened investigations into the incident, while residents and the school community remain in shock over the brutal loss.
Preliminary findings suggest the attack might have occurred during the early morning hours.
Confirming the closure, County Education Director Apollo Apuko appealed for patience from parents as detectives work to unravel the motive behind the killing.
The body was transferred to the Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The situation turned tense on Monday as distressed parents thronged the school, accusing the administration of failing to inform them promptly.
Many demanded heightened security in learning institutions, with some vowing to personally safeguard schools if authorities fail to guarantee their children’s safety.
Narok County County Executive Committee Member, John Gatua condemned the incident, describing it as an unprecedented tragedy. “We are in disbelief. It’s terrifying to imagine that a child could be killed in this manner without a sound,” he said, urging swift action to ensure justice.
Police and education officials continue to handle the case with urgency as the community calls for answers and reassurances on student safety.
