Authorities have confirmed that all is set for the National Interdenominational Service for Peace, scheduled ahead of the 16th September general elections.
The event, themed “Seeking God’s Face for Peaceful and United Elections”, will take place this Saturday at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.
Speaking to African Culture TV, Apostle Peter Banda, Organising Chairperson for the prayers, said the main goal is to seek God’s intervention to ensure peace and unity before, during, and after the elections.
“Our mission is to invite God’s presence into this electoral process so that Malawians can go to the polls in peace and unity. We believe prayer will help safeguard the peace that the country already enjoys,” said Banda.
He further extended an invitation to citizens from all walks of life, including government departments, various sectors, and churches, to come together and pray for the nation as it approaches the polls.
According to Banda, it is every citizen’s responsibility to demonstrate love for the nation and involve God in the electoral process. He argued that by doing so, the peace that currently exists in the country can be sustained.
