Kenyan President William Ruto, has addressed his critics, reiterating his focus on lowering living costs and boosting food security.
He made this address during the launch of the Affordable Housing Internship Programme on Tuesday.
The President affirmed his commitment to economic stabilisation, asserting that external criticism will not deter his plans.
“We have strategies in place to generate jobs. Let no one deceive you; some portray Kenya as the worst country globally,” he stated.
Ruto firmly rejected claims labelling Kenya a failed state, emphasising the achievements the country has made over time. “We must challenge those narratives. Do you truly understand what defines a failed state?” he posed.
The President stressed that his government’s goals are irreversible and backed by economic data. “You can express your opinions, but facts remain consistent. I’ve made challenging decisions to bring us to this point, and I have no regrets,” he added.
He expressed optimism about the nation’s economic stability, stating that measures are underway to improve the situation. “I assure you, our economy is robust, and we are poised to enhance it.
We know what needs to be done to ensure food security, tackle inflation, manage living expenses, and prevent food crises.”
Despite criticism regarding his extensive agenda, Ruto expressed his determination to proceed with his initiatives. “Many suggest that I’ve taken on too much at once. They say I should pace myself to maintain popularity for future implementation.
However, the transformation of Kenya cannot be delayed any longer.”
Ruto concluded by noting that opportunities to serve as president are rare, urging leaders to make the most of them. “You don’t always get a chance like this, so when it comes, seize it,” he said.
The President made these comments during the event held at the State House.
