The Nigeria Police Force has begun disciplinary proceedings against 151 senior officers in a major crackdown on misconduct and professional breaches within its ranks.
The officers, drawn from various commands and formations across the country, are currently appearing before the Force Disciplinary Committee in Abuja.
The sessions, which began on Monday, July 14, are expected to continue until Friday, July 25, at the IGP Smart Conference Hall at the Force Headquarters.
The committee is tasked with reviewing allegations of misconduct, ethical violations, and other infractions involving officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police and above.
According to the Force Headquarters, the process will follow established police regulations and disciplinary procedures, and the final outcomes will be forwarded to the Police Service Commission for necessary action.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed his administration’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and misconduct.
He stated that upholding internal accountability is key to earning public trust and maintaining professional standards.
The Nigeria Police described the disciplinary action as a bold move aimed at restoring confidence in the force and ensuring that officers at all levels adhere strictly to the rule of law.
Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, emphasized that the panel’s work reflects the police leadership’s resolve to enforce integrity, discipline, and transparency within the institution.
The outcome of the proceedings is expected to send strong signals across the force as the IGP continues to implement reforms to reshape the public image of the police.
