The Mzimba Heritage Association (MZIHA) says it plans to raise 300 million kwacha from this year’s Umthetho Cultural Festival contributions, with the funds earmarked for the rehabilitation of Euthini and Mzimba Secondary Schools, as well as procuring essential supplies for Mzimba District Hospital.
This year’s target marks a significant increase from last year’s goal of 150 million kwacha, reflecting the association’s growing ambition to support local development projects.
Speaking in an interview, MZIHA General Secretary Kingsley Jere confirmed that the 2025 Umthetho Cultural Festival will be held from 6th to 9th August at the iconic Hora Heritage Site in Mzimba.
Jere emphasised that the festival is not only a celebration of culture, but also serves as a vital platform for fostering community development and promoting national unity.
This year’s event will be held under the theme: “Cultural Diversity: A Foundation for Peaceful Co-Existence and Development.”
The Umthetho Festival continues to attract thousands of people from within and outside Malawi, providing an opportunity to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Ngoni people and contribute to meaningful social initiatives.
