Nigeria – Popular Singer Portable Loses Instagram Followers Over Comments on #EndBadGovernance Protesters
By Utebor Paul, Nigeria
Habeeb Okìkiola Badmus, a popular Nigerian musician known as Portable, has lost a significant number of Instagram followers following his perceived “negative” comments on #EndBadGovernance protesters.
Recall that the #EndBadGovernance protest against hunger kicked off nationwide on the 1st of August 2024 and is currently on Day 4.
Commenting on the nationwide protest, the singer noted that the young people participating in the protest were doing so because of joblessness.
He advised them to fight for themselves and leave the government alone.
Uncomfortable with his comments about the protest, many of his followers started unfollowing him on Instagram.
This led to his followers dropping from 2.9 million to 2.8 million, losing over a hundred thousand followers on Instagram in less than 24 hours.
However, in a bid to redeem himself, Portable on Saturday gave out food items such as noodles, spaghetti, and more to the poor in his community.
