The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, through the Lagos State Examinations Board (LSEB), has released the official timetable for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
In a statement, the Registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, Adebayo Orunsolu, said the examination would commence on Monday, June 29, and conclude on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Orunsolu described the examination as a significant academic milestone in the educational journey of students across the state and urged parents, guardians and school administrators to take note of the timetable and ensure strict adherence to all guidelines issued by the board.
According to him, the BECE serves as the official transition examination for students in public and approved private schools moving from Junior Secondary School to Senior Secondary School.
The registrar emphasised the importance of adequate preparation for candidates, noting that schools are expected to ensure that all eligible students are fully prepared and compliant with examination requirements.
He further assured stakeholders that the Lagos State Examinations Board had concluded all necessary administrative and logistical arrangements to guarantee a seamless, transparent and credible examination process across the state.
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in public examinations, Orunsolu reiterated Lagos State’s zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice.
“Any form of disruption of the examination process, malpractice or misconduct will attract appropriate disciplinary sanctions in accordance with established regulations,” he warned.
He added that the Lagos State Government remains committed to promoting academic excellence and upholding the integrity of the educational assessment system.
