NIGERIA: APC Disowns Purported List of Successful Primary Election Candidates
By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
The All Progressives Congress has disowned a purported official list of successful candidates from its recently concluded primaries circulating on social media and other platforms, describing it as fake, unauthorised and misleading.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said it had not released any official list of winners from the primaries and urged members, aspirants, stakeholders and the general public to disregard any publication claiming otherwise.
The party explained that successful candidates would be formally notified through its official channels before certificates of return are issued in line with established procedures.
The clarification comes as the Independent National Electoral Commission has opened its candidate nomination portal for political parties to upload the names of candidates who emerged from their primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although the APC acknowledged that internal collation and verification of primary election results are ongoing, it stressed that no official list has been approved for public release.
The party said distancing itself from the circulating document was necessary to prevent misinformation, confusion among aspirants and supporters, and to preserve the integrity of its nomination process.
