Nigeria – Akwa Ibom’s Governor Umoh Eno Dismisses Rumors of New Marriage
By Utebor Paul, Nigeria
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has debunked rumors suggesting he is planning to remarry following the death of his wife, Helen Eno.
Recall that Helen passed away in September at the hospital surrounded by her family.
The governor made the clarification during a condolence visit by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio and other senators.
While addressing his visitors, Governor Eno dismissed the speculation of an existing second wife and affirmed that he had no immediate plans to marry again.
In a light-hearted manner, he remarked, “I’m not about to marry a new wife now,” jokingly adding that he lacked the funds for a bride price.
The governor went on to announce his daughter, Helen Eno, as the new First Lady, explaining that she would take on the responsibilities previously handled by her late mother.
“No one will be able to fill that vacuum,” Governor Eno said. “Her legacy will live in our hearts. She had started projects, and I had to introduce our daughter, Helen, to the First Lady’s office so she would step in to coordinate those programs.”
