MALAWI: Parliament Establishes Adhoc Committee To Probe Chikangawa Plane Crash

Speaker of Parliament, Right Honourable Sameer Suleman, MP, has announced the establishment of an adhoc committee to conduct a fresh inquiry into the Chikangawa Plane Crash that occurred on June 10, 2024, which claimed the lives of former Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima and eight others.
In his communication to the House, Right Honourable Suleman said his office had received a list of proposed members in line with the agreed party representation ratio.
The adhoc committee comprises Hon. Gilbert Khonyongwa, MP (DPP); Hon. Chipalamoto Nkhwazi, MP (DPP); Hon. Dr. James Mpunga, MP (DPP); Hon. Dumisani Lindani, MP (DPP); Hon. Joshua Malango, MP (MCP); Hon. Jiverson Kadzipatike, MP (MCP); Hon. Mphatso Boti Phiri, MP (MCP); Hon. Felix Njawala, MP (UTM); Hon. Noah Chimpeni, MP (PP); Hon. Ishmael Rizziq Mkumba, MP (UDF); Hon. Savel Kafwafwa, MP (Independent); Hon. Dyless Mbengo, MP (Independent); and Hon. Walter Nyamilandu, MP (Independent).
However, the Speaker informed the House that the member representing the People’s Party will be replaced.
The committee is expected to complete its work within 90 days from the date of its first meeting and present its findings to the House during the next sitting scheduled f
or August.
