MALAWI: Mutharika Appoints New Members to Judicial Service Commission

State President Peter Mutharika has appointed new members to the Judicial Service Commission with immediate effect.
Mutharika announced the appointments through a statement signed by the government’s Chief Secretary, Justin Saidi, issued today.
According to the statement, the President appointed the Chief Justice as Chairperson of the Commission. Other notable legal professionals appointed to the body include Ophrah Dorothy Kamanga, Violet Palikena Chipao, and Senior Resident Magistrate Ellen Chapita.
The Commission will also include Edith Chikagwa, Patrice C. Nkhono, Chikosa Banda, Dr. Rabiya Hanif, and Victor Chagunyuka Mhango.
The statement further indicated that the appointments were made in accordance with Section 117 of the Constitution
of Malawi.
