Key electoral stakeholders are gathering this morning at the Njobvu Conference Hall, Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), for the official launch of the 2025 campaign period ahead of the September 16 general elections.

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is officially opening the two-month campaign under the theme “Promoting Democratic Leadership Through Your Vote.”
The launch has drawn representatives from political parties, civil society organisations, faith-based groups, security agencies, and various government departments. All have convened to witness the start of the official election campaign season.
During the event, MEC is expected to outline its expectations from all stakeholders, emphasising the importance of peaceful, inclusive, and issue-based campaigning.
