The Government of Malawi has suspended three heads of statutory corporations, Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Justin Saidi, has confirmed.

Those affected include George Kasakula, Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC); Daud Suleman, Director General of the Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA); and Humphrey Mdyetseni, Chief Executive Officer of the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF).
Dr Saidi did not disclose the reasons for the suspensions, stating only that the decision was made to facilitate ongoing investigations.

President Peter Mutharika, who was elected last month, has emphasised the need for professionalism, transparency, and efficiency in public service.
Reports suggest that some of the suspended directors had not handled their offices properly, with concerns raised over mismanagement and poor administrative conduct. The government is expected to appoint acting heads to ensure continued operations within the affected institutions.
