KENYA: “What Moral Authority Does He Have?’ Opposition Tears Into Ruto’s Post-Vision 2030 Plan

The opposition has dismissed President William Ruto’s proposed post-Vision 2030 development charter as unrealistic, accusing his administration of failing to deliver on existing promises and undermining the country’s current development agenda.

Speaking at his Wamunyoro home in Nyeri County, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua questioned the President’s credibility in leading a new national transformation plan.

“What moral authority does he have to lead any economic and development agenda while his administration has failed?” posed Gachagua.

The DCP leader also dismissed the planned August 12 national conversation, saying the initiative would not deliver meaningful results.

“How can the same person in power who failed to deliver his promises to Kenyans now purport to deliver?” he added.

Meanwhile, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, speaking in Yatta, Machakos County, also criticized the proposed development charter, terming the initiative unnecessary and urging the government to focus on implementing existing commitments before unveiling new long-term plans.
