KENYA: Storm Wreaks Havoc At Siaya School, Properties Worth Millions Lost

Property worth millions of shillings has been destroyed after a heavy storm hit Majiwa Secondary School in Siaya County.
The strong winds blew off roofs of key facilities, including a dormitory and a recently renovated laboratory, leaving students stranded.
School Principal Maurice Amusala said the damage was extensive.
“The school may not reopen for term two as scheduled… students currently have nowhere to sleep and no place for practicals,” he said.
Board Chairman Kennedy Oreyo appealed for support.
“I urge the government and well-wishers to step in and help the school recover,” he said.
Area Chief Hosbone Omollo termed the incident unfortunate, calling for assistance to help students repla
ce lost items.
