KENYA: Ruto Signs Supplementary Budget, Boosts Security, Education and Health

President William Ruto has assented to the Supplementary Appropriations Bill, 2026, increasing Kenya’s budget to 4.69 trillion shillings.
The President said the additional 393 billion shillings will address urgent priorities including security, disaster response and infrastructure.
“It aligns the national budget to address urgent and emerging priorities, including critical security operations, disaster response, and strategic infrastructure investments,” he said.
Security received the largest allocation of 60 billion shillings, while education was allocated 45.28 billion shillings.
On health and agriculture, the President said targeted funding will support key programmes.
