KENYA: Kagwe Pushes Digital Shift in Livestock Sector to Boost Exports
By Moses Punyuah, Nairobi
Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has signalled a shift toward a data-driven and export-oriented livestock sector, anchored on technology, youth empowerment and strict international standards.
The Agriculture Cabinet Secretary said the Animal Identification and Traceability System will be key in unlocking global markets.
“Moving forward, exporting animals to international markets must have traceability. That is why we have ANITRAC,” he said.
Kagwe also placed veterinary professionals at the centre of the transformation, noting their critical role in linking food security, trade, and public
health.
