The Chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Erastus Ethekon, has warned politicians against hiring goons to attack opponents, saying those found guilty risk disqualification.
Speaking in Turkana County, Ethekon said the Commission will strictly enforce the election code of conduct.
“Look for a job by talking to voters, but do not use chaos,” said Ethekon.
He cited recent by-election violence in Kasipul, where offenders were fined one million shillings.
Meanwhile, Turkana leaders have asked IEBC to extend the ongoing voter registration exercise by two weeks to allow pastoralists away in search of pasture and water to
register.
