KENYA: Former Cabinet Secretary Declares Burial Wishes, Rejects State Involvement
By Moses Punyuah, Nairobi
Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has publicly outlined his burial wishes, calling for a simple and strictly private ceremony.
Speaking at his rural home in Ralingo village, Tuju directed that he be buried within 48 hours of his death, with no involvement from state officers.
“I have shown you the spot where I want to be buried… I do not want state officers interfering with my funeral,” he said.
He insisted that his final rites should remain a family affair, urging leaders not to associate with him after his passing.
Tuju, who has been engaged in an ongoing property dispute with the government, said past near-death experiences have shaped his perspective, adding that he is prepared for
mortality.
