By Moses Punyuah
Education, security, and health emerged among the biggest beneficiaries in the 2026/27 national budget after Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi unveiled a KSh4.8 trillion spending plan aimed at driving the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
The education sector received the largest allocation of KSh784.5 billion, followed by security at KSh316.2 billion, transport at KSh220.4 billion, and health at KSh177.2 billion.
“The budget is designed to support economic growth, create jobs and accelerate the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” said Mbadi.
The health allocation includes funding for primary healthcare, referral hospitals, vaccines, medical interns, and community health promoters, while transport funding will support infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and reducing the cost of doing business.
