The EcoFitness Hub, a prominent fitness center located on 4th Avenue in Gwarinpa, Abuja, was engulfed in flames on Wednesday.
The fire reportedly began before emergency responders arrived, prompting alarm and concern among locals and passersby.
Eyewitness Yemi Mercy Enoch, who initially raised the alarm on Facebook, shared with African Culture TV that the fire had been burning for some time before the fire service reached the scene.
“I don’t know the cause of the fire as I had to leave the area to attend to my customers,” Mercy added, noting that her workplace is located nearby.
Attempts to reach the management of EcoFitness and the fire service for further details on the incident were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.

Founded in 2021, information provided on the EcoFitness Hub’s website states that it has grown rapidly, offering a range of fitness services with branches in Abuja and Lagos. It said fitness center provides bespoke training programs, supervised by experienced trainers, and features over 16 different classes weekly, including aerobics, HIIT, cardio, yoga, and dance.
EcoFitness also hosts sports activities such as football, lawn tennis, and basketball, with a vision to expand across Nigeria and internationally.
