The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it has received 110 applications from associations seeking registration as political parties in Nigeria.
According to a statement released on Wednesday via the Commission’s official Facebook page, the applications were submitted as of Monday, 23rd June 2025.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed that all but six of the letters have been acknowledged, with the remaining six to be processed before the end of the week.
He confirmed that the Commission is processing the applications in strict compliance with existing legal frameworks, regulations, and guidelines.
To promote transparency, INEC is releasing the full list of the 110 associations, including their proposed names, acronyms, addresses, and the names of their chairmen and secretaries.
The list will be made publicly available on the Commission’s website and social media platforms, while hard copies have been distributed to stakeholders.
Professor Yakubu also reminded interested groups that the 2022 Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties handbook is available for download on the INEC website.
