NIGERIA: Yahaya Bello Media Denounces Presidential Campaign, Says No Presidential Ambition For 2027

By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
The media office of the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has strongly condemned what it described as a deliberate and senseless attempt by political detractors to deceive Nigerians by recycling a 2022 political rally.
In a statement signed by Ohiare Michael, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, the team described the move as the handiwork of “confused, witless detractors” bent on damaging the former governor’s reputation and creating imaginary friction between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to the statement, the recycled footage and images being circulated online are from a 2022 event, with the date “boldly written on banners,” yet malicious bloggers have attempted to pass them off as a new rally supposedly held in support of a Yahaya Bello 2027 presidential ambition.
The media office described this act as not only intellectually dishonest but also a reflection of desperation and poor judgment by those behind it.
“This is not the first time detractors and their co-travellers would fly absolute falsehood with the aim of setting the former governor against our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement noted.
It added, “But this latest slant of reposting a 2022 rally afresh and insinuating that it is just happening, connotes nothing but insanity.”
The office further clarified that Alhaji Yahaya Bello has no presidential ambition for 2027, contrary to the insinuations being peddled online.
Instead, it reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Tinubu’s administration and re-election efforts, citing the President’s commendable achievements despite global economic challenges.
“The indices cannot lie. The President and his team have done exceedingly well for the country, despite global challenges. On merit, he deserves the support of well-meaning Nigerians,” the statement emphasized.
Concluding, the Yahaya Bello Media Office urged Nigerians to disregard the circulating post, describing it as “a senseless post by a confused, witless mind,” and warned against falling victim to the antics of those determined to create conflict where none exists.
