President Lazarus Chakwera has departed for Harare, Zimbabwe, to attend a one-day Southern African Development Community (SADC) summit focused on Transfrontier Conservation Areas.
The summit will bring together leaders from the SADC region to assess progress over the past quarter-century and chart strategies for enhanced regional cooperation in conservation, sustainable tourism, and community development.
The summit’s theme: “Transfrontier Conservation Areas: 25 Years of Fostering Regional Integration and Sustainable Development,” underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in protecting biodiversity and promoting ecosystem conservation.
President Chakwera is also expected to engage in bilateral discussions with other Heads of State to strengthen Malawi’s diplomatic ties and foster regional cooperation.
He was seen off at Chileka International Airport by senior officials, including Secretary to the President and Cabinet Colleen Zamba, ministers, traditional leaders, and business leaders.
Chakwera is slated to return to Malawi this evening via Kamuzu International Airport.
