The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of three additional suspects in connection with the recent spate of killings in Plateau State, as part of intensified efforts to curb violence and restore peace in the troubled region.
According to a press statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the arrests were made in a series of successful operations carried out by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), targeting gunrunners and individuals in unlawful possession of firearms.
In one of the operations, conducted on May 3, 2025, IRT operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested one Abubakar Jibrin, a resident of Kalone community in Shendam Local Government Area.
The statement stated that Jibrin was found in possession of prohibited firearms. His subsequent confession led police to recover a submachine gun (SMG) rifle with an empty magazine from his residence.
The following day, May 4, another raid in Barkin Ladi area led to the recovery of two fabricated revolver rifles. The weapons were traced to a suspect, Ismail Danjuma, who is currently in custody and assisting investigators with information linked to the Plateau killings.
The statement reads: “These recent operations demonstrate the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to diligently ensure that every person complicit in these condemnable killings is brought to justice.”
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, also urged residents of Plateau State and other affected regions to remain calm and continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing relevant information.
He assured the public of the Force’s resolve to restore peace and ensure safety across the country.
