NIGERIA: 2Baba Introduces Natasha Osawaru To His Mother In Private df Gathering

By Ameenat Hamzat, Lagos, Nigeria
Afropop icon Innocent Idibia, popularly knowna as “2Baba” has taken a major step in formalizing his relationship with Edo-born lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, as the celebrated musician introduced her to his mother and other family members in a private ceremony that has since sparked wide public reaction.
The event, captured in a now-viral video, marks a dramatic shift in what has been a widely discussed and emotionally charged relationship. Earlier in the year, 2Baba’s mother, Mrs. Rose Idibia, had made an emotional public appeal, pleading with Natasha to “free” her son, citing concerns over the nature of their involvement.
She said in a tearful video that made rounds online in February: “This message is for Miss Natasha Osawaru of Edo State. I’m calling on all mothers in Nigeria to help me beg her to free my son,”
That plea, at the time, fueled speculations of deep-seated familial disapproval and raised doubts over whether Natasha would ever be accepted by the Idibia family.
However, the new footage which shows Natasha warmly received at a close-knit family gathering appears to signal reconciliation and a new chapter for the couple.
Public response to Natasha’s growing presence in 2Baba’s life has been sharply divided, with some fans praising the singer for finding love again, while others continue to voice support for Annie, his ex-wife with whom he shares two children.
Neither 2Baba nor Natasha has issued an official statement regarding the family visit, but close associates say both parties are taking a “mature and deliberate approach” to navigating the intense media interest surrounding their relationship.
