NIGERIA: Death Toll from Lagos Building Collapse Rises To Five, 13 Rescued

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that the death toll from the collapsed building in the Ojodu-Berger area has increased to five.
The three-storey structure, located at 9 & 10 Oremeta Street, caved in on Saturday, trapping restaurant staff and patrons under the rubble.
Initially, authorities reported one death and nine injuries. However, in an early morning update on Sunday, LASEMA said 13 individuals have now been rescued alive, while five, three women and two men, have been confirmed dead.
In total, the authority confirmed that 17 people have been affected by the collapse.
LASEMA also noted fhat safety measures have been put in place with the area cordoned off to ensure safety and allow for ongoing rescue operations.
