NIGERIA: Police Condemn Officers Seen Collecting Cash From Chinese National In Viral Video

By Onoja Baba, Nigeria
The Nigeria Police Force has condemned the actions of some of its officers caught on video, receiving money from a Chinese national, describing the incident as “unprofessional and unethical.”
In a press statement issued on Thursday, and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police assured Nigerians that the implicated officers have been identified and are now facing disciplinary action.
“The actions of the officers do not represent the established ethics, standards, and core values of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement said, stressing that the Force maintains zero tolerance for any form of misconduct that undermines public trust.
The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, sparked outrage among Nigerians, with many questioning the integrity of officers assigned to protect lives and property.
In response, the police hierarchy not only moved swiftly to identify the officers involved, but also issued a stern warning to individuals and organizations making use of police personnel in any capacity.
“The Nigeria Police Force hereby cautions individuals and organizations privileged to the services of Police personnel, particularly as escorts and guards or other specialized services, to desist from any act capable of degrading the integrity of its officers and bringing the Force to disrepute,” Adejobi warned.
