Nigerian singer, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, with the stage name, Spyro, has criticized wealthy individuals, particularly billionaires, for allegedly avoiding payment for professional services despite their considerable financial resources.
In a post shared via his official Instagram account, the artist expressed disappointment over what he described as a recurring trend among the rich, requesting free services while maintaining a lavish lifestyle.
Spyro wrote: “The people that owe the most are the rich. Always wanting free things, especially your so-called billionaires. They can spend hundreds of millions on women, but when it comes to paying for value tendered, they begin to misbehave.”
He noted that he had worked diligently to attain his current status in the entertainment industry and, as such, expects his services to be paid for accordingly.
“Sha don’t bring it near me o. I worked really hard to be here and I ain’t poor, so if you want my services, you pay my price. Simple,” he added.
Spyro’s remarks come amid growing concerns among creatives regarding the undervaluation of their work, particularly by clients with substantial means.
His comments have since sparked debate online, with many supporting his stance on fair compensation.
