MALAWI: Police Remains Silent Over Arrest Of Political Terrorists In Malawi

By Smile Hamilton, Malawi
A veil of secrecy has shrouded the Malawi Police Service’s recent arrest of suspected political terrorists, who have been wreaking havoc on peaceful demonstrations.
The situation took a dire turn last week, when thugs brutally attacked civil servants protesting low pay in Lilongwe.
Although African Culture TV has not independently verified the reports, sources close to the matter revealed that three individuals with alleged ties to the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) are currently in police custody, suspected of masterminding the recent attacks on protesters.
Another source disclosed that efforts to bring the suspects to court are being thwarted by resistance from party officials, further fueling speculation about potential political interference.
Peter Kalaya, spokesperson for the Malawi Police Service, has requested time to comment on the matter, leaving many questions unanswered about the arrests and the ongoing investigations.
The police’s silence has only served to heighten tensions, with many calling for transparency and accountability in the handling of the case.
The recent surge in political violence has raised concerns about the safety of protesters and the ability of the police to maintain law and order.
The Malawi Defence Force and Malawi Police Service have issued a joint statement condemning the violence and warning those involved they will face the full force of the law.
As the investigation unfolds, many are watching with bated breath to see how the authorities will handle the case. Will the police be able to bring the perpetrators to justice, or will political interference undermine the rule of law? Only time will tell.
