The popular Umthetho Cultural Festival is set to take place on August 9, 2025 at Hora Mountain in Mzimba District.
The Secretary General of the organisation , Kingsley Jere, revealed this in a phone conversation with African Culture TV, highlighting that during the festival, Ngoni King Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V will lead his subjects in various traditional activities, starting from August 6.
Jere said preparations are already underway, with various committees working on respective tasks.
A resource mobilization committee, led by Charles Zimba, has been tasked with raising funds for the event and Mzimba Heritage Association (Mziha) operations.
Jere expressed his excitement about the upcoming festival, stating that it will be a celebration of Ngoni culture and traditions.
He also invited the public to attend and experience the rich cultural heritage of the Ngoni people.
“Last year’s Umthetho ceremony attracted international guests from countries such as Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, and South Africa.
“This year’s event is expected to be even bigger and better, with more activities and performances lined up,” he said.
