Police in Dowa have arrested two individuals, a Malawian and a Congolese national, for allegedly possessing cannabis at Dzaleka Refugee Camp.
According to Dowa police publicist Alice Sitima, the suspects are Remasi Mziiki, a Congolese resident of the camp, and Gosta Mvula, a Malawian.
The arrests were made after police received a tip from the public, prompting officers from the Dzaleka Police Unit to search Mziiki’s home in the Lisungwi area of the camp.
During the operation, police found large quantities of cannabis concealed in food containers, sacks, and plastic bags.
Mvula was arrested near Mziiki’s residence, carrying a laptop bag containing cannabis packed in a sack bag, ready for sale.
