Award-winning Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has made a triumphant return to fiction with her first novel in over decade, a Dream Count.
Just three days after its release, the book has soared to the number one spot on Amazon UK, marking a significant literary comeback for the author.
Adichie, celebrated for her compelling storytelling and exploration of complex social issues, last published a novel in 2013, Americanah.
Her new book, Dream Count focuses on the themes of identity, love, and resilience, capturing the struggles and triumphs of its characters.
Adichie further revealed that the long gap between her novels was due to major life changes, including the birth of her daughter and the loss of her parents. Both events, she said, led to a difficult period of writer’s block.
At the book launch, notable figures in attendance include the former presidential candidate Peter Obi among other personalities.
Adichie also shared her excitement on Instagram, writing, “So thrilled that Dream Count is number one on Amazon UK.”
Her return to fiction has been met with widespread enthusiasm, particularly in Nigeria, where she remains a literary icon
Her ability to capture everyday realities with unfiltered honesty has cemented her status as a beloved storyteller both at home and internationally.
Dream Count is now available in bookstores and online platforms.
