Just In: Popular Kogi Activist Okai Arrested By DSS

A prominent activist from Kogi State, Usman Austin Okai, has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Okai was reportedly picked up from his residence on Abacha Road, Nasarawa State, around 9:30 AM on Wednesday.

His wife confirmed the arrest in a post on her Facebook handle, FedoBee Beauty Hub, where she wrote: “Usman Okai Austin abducted by Kogi State Government. No warrant of arrest. No invitation. They scattered everywhere forcefully, not minding the 4-week-old baby.”

Renowned activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore also confirmed the development, alleging that the Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, was behind the arrest.

Sowore wrote, “Imagine how these lawless @OfficialDSSNG mercenaries are abducting, torturing, and dehumanizing a Nigerian citizen, @Austinokai, just because he expresses himself against Gov. Ododo of Kogi State.”
