NIGERIA: Tinubu Presides Over APC National Caucus Meeting Ahead Of NEC Session

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, has led the National Caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
The gathering, which commenced at 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday, marks the first of its kind since Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023.
The high-profile meeting precedes the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) session, scheduled for Wednesday at the APC national secretariat in Wuse 2, Abuja.
In attendance are key political figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.
Members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) are also present, alongside deputy national chairmen (North and South), the national secretary, legal adviser, treasurer, organizing secretary, women leader, youth leader, and a representative for persons living with disabilities.
APC governors, led by Imo State Governor and Progressive Governors’ Forum Chairman Hope Uzodinma, are well represented.
Others include Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, and Niger State Governor Umar Bago.
Former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva is leading a delegation of South-South APC leaders, while notable northern politicians such as former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari and former Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-Makura are also present.
Discussions at the meeting center on a proposed non-elective party convention, the formation of standing committees, and the implementation of a membership e-registration exercise. Additionally, the party’s national legal adviser is expected to present a report on ongoing litigations involving the APC.
Senior party figures in attendance include founding APC National Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba, and ex-party National Secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore. Other notable attendees include former House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, former Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade, and former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim.
The meeting is expected to lay the groundwork for significant party decisions ahead of Wednesday’s NEC session.
