A group of 15 Malawian Reggae and Dancehall artists arrived at Kamuzu International Airport this afternoon, returning from a music tour in Jamaica.
The group, which included notable artists such as Don Tarz, Ann Matumbi, Kellie Divine Njuchi, Blasto, and Born Afrikan, had traveled to Jamaica to perform and learn from the island’s rich musical heritage.
According to Ann Matumbi, one of the artists who made the trip, the experience was incredibly enriching.
“We’ve learned so many things about music in Jamaica, and this will definitely have a positive impact on our performances,” she said.
The trip was made possible through the sponsorship of youthful Minister Vitumbiko Mumba, President Lazarus Chakwera, and Baba Steve Malondera. The artists’ return is expected to bring new energy and inspiration to Malawi’s music scene.
