Baringo Senator William Cheptumo has passed away while receiving medical attention at Nairobi Hospital.
The news of his demise was confirmed by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi on Sunday.
In his statement, Kingi described Cheptumo as a committed leader who diligently fulfilled his legislative duties and passionately represented the interests of Baringo residents and Kenyans in general.
President William Ruto also expressed his condolences, remembering Cheptumo as a determined and hardworking leader who was dedicated to the development of Baringo County.
Ruto praised his contributions to public service and extended his sympathies to the senator’s family, friends, and constituents.
Cheptumo was serving his first term in the Senate, having defeated KANU’s Gideon Moi in the 2022 elections.
His death marks a significant loss for the Senate and the people of Baringo.
