KENYA: V-Power Fuel Quality Confirmed By Kenya Bureau Of Standards And The Energy And Petroleum Regatory Authority

By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has confirmed that the Super fuel, including V-Power, meets the required Research Octane Number (RON) ratings as per Kenyan regulations.
The Energy & Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) also endorsed this finding, affirming the high-quality standards of the fuel.
In a joint statement, KEBS and EPRA revealed that they conducted tests on fuel samples collected from different petrol stations nationwide, including Shell outlets.
The results showed RON values of 96.1, 95.9, 96.0, and 95.9, reinforcing the compliance of V-Power fuel with national standards.
These findings come in response to recent online reports and videos questioning the quality of the fuel.
The confirmation is a major relief for Vivo Energy Kenya, the company responsible for distributing and marketing Shell products in the country.
Additionally, the authorities advised the public to avoid using unapproved and uncalibrated equipment to test fuel quality, urging reliance on certified laboratories for accurate results.
