Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, following the death of his elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde.
In a statement personally signed by the President on Monday, Tinubu expressed profound sympathy to the governor, his family, and the people of Oyo State, describing the loss as deeply sorrowful.
“With a heavy heart, I extend my deepest sympathies to you, your family, and the people of Oyo State on the passing of your beloved elder brother, Engineer Sunday Makinde,” the President stated.
Acknowledging the emotional toll of losing a loved one, Tinubu emphasized that the pain of such a loss is immeasurable. “The loss of a loved one, especially a cherished elder brother, is a profound sorrow. In this time of mourning, I want you to know that I, along with many others, stand with you and your family,” he said.
Tinubu lauded the Makinde family for their long-standing commitment to unity and family values, which he described as a source of strength during moments of grief. “This moment reminds us of the importance of family, unity, and love—values that your family has always exemplified and that we all hold dear,” the President added.
He concluded the message with prayers for the departed soul and a pledge of unwavering support to Governor Makinde. “I pray for the peaceful repose of Engineer Sunday Makinde’s soul and for the Almighty to grant you and your family the strength to navigate this challenging time. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, and you are not alone in this period,”Tinubu said.
