Ruto Mourns Death Of Kenya National Commission On Human Rights Chairperson

Kenyan President William Ruto, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Roseline Odhiambo Odede, Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR).
In a heartfelt message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, President Ruto lauded Odede as a formidable champion for human rights and a distinguished advocate for a more equitable society.
“Deeply saddened by the death of the Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights Roseline Odhiambo Odede. She was a formidable human rights champion and a distinguished campaigner for a more equal and fairer society.
“Our thoughts and love are with the family at this sorrowful moment. Rest In Peace, Roseline,” the President’s message read.
Odede’s passing was confirmed by KNCHR Vice Chairperson Raymond Nyeris, who stated that she succumbed after a short illness.
The news has prompted an outpouring of condolences from various leaders and organizations.
Former Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi reminisced about his interactions with Odede, describing her as an intelligent and sober legal mind.
Esther Passaris, Nairobi Woman Representative, also paid tribute, acknowledging Odede’s legacy as a fierce advocate for human rights and extending heartfelt condolences to her family.
Odede’s tenure at KNCHR was marked by her unwavering commitment to defending human rights and challenging state oppression.
Her leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on Kenya’s human rights landscape.
As the nation mourns, plans for her memorial and funeral services are expected to be announced by her family and the Commission in the coming days.
