A gas explosion has claimed the life of Zakari Aliyu and injured two others identified as Mohammed Usman Baba and Umar Mohammed, in Kpakingun, Minna State, Nigeria.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024, at a vulcanizer’s shop.
The shop owner, Mohammed Usman Baba, is said to have used a gas cylinder for a customer and placed it aside for refilling.
According to accounts, the cylinder began to overheat, which made Zakari Aliyu, the shop apprentice, pour water on it in an attempt to cool it down.
Unfortunately, the cylinder exploded and scattered Zakari’s body.
“As Zakari poured the water on the cylinder, it blew up and scattered his body. The boss and his son also got injured in the event,” said Faisal Avuya, one of the eyewitnesses.
One of the injured victims, Umar Mohammed, who is the son of the shop owner, sustained severe abdominal injuries and was said to be in critical conditions.
