Kenya Railways Suspends Limuru-Nairobi Train Services After Heavy Rains

By Lisbeth Micheni, Kenya
Kenya Railways has announced a temporary suspension of train services between Limuru and Nairobi, following heavy rainfall on Sunday night.
The downpour, which disrupted operations in Nairobi and surrounding areas, raised safety concerns for commuters and railway infrastructure.
In a statement, Kenya Railways assured the public that the suspension is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring passenger safety.
The company stated that engineers are currently assessing potential damage to tracks and related systems caused by the adverse weather.
The Limuru-Nairobi line, a critical route for daily commuters, is expected to resume operations once safety inspections are complete.
Passengers are advised to use alternative modes of transport in the interim. Kenya Railways has also urged the public to stay updated through their official communication channels for further announcements.
