Our Esan cousins across the River Niger taught us this great art of acrobatic display. The Esan people of Edo State and the people of Ebu and its environs have always had interactions such as trade, marriages and cultural interactions. The Igbabonalimi dance is one of those cultural displays that was brought by the Ishan people who settled and mingled with the Ebu people over the centuries. The dance is spectacular in the way that the masquerades capture our attention with their mastery of major acrobatic moves. It is quite entertaining and a site to see. Please enjoy this very art of African culture.
