Nigeria’s Minister of State, Petroleum Resources Oil, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has attributed the country’s low reserves to the inadequate exploration in the country.
Senator Lokpobiri while receiving the Kogi state Governor, Usman Ododo hinted that an assessment of more fields would be embarked upon to improve exploration.
According to him, state governments are encouraged to keep investing in the oil and Gas sector while leaning on the funding backed by the Petroleum Industry Act.
However, the Kogi state noted that his visit was to implore the Federal Government to explore the untapped huge mineral resources deposited in the state.
The kogi state commissioner for finance, Asiwaju Asiru Idris revealed that the state so far, the state had only received once the thirteen percent derivation allocation despite being the first Northern oil producing state.
Asiwaju Idris said the state had addressed the level of insecurity and affirmed that this would help its revenue growth.
