Nigeria’s national power grid has collapsed for the second time in less than 24 hours, leaving large parts of the country in darkness once again.
The latest failure occurred around 9:17 a.m. on Tuesday, causing widespread power outages across multiple regions.
The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) confirmed the collapse in a post on X, stating, “Dear Valued Customer, kindly be informed there was a system collapse at 09:17hrs which has resulted in a loss of power supply across our network. We are currently working with our partners as we hope for speedy restoration of the grid. We will keep you updated as soon as the power supply is restored.”
This incident follows a similar collapse on Monday evening, which also triggered a nationwide blackout.
The repeated grid failures have heightened concerns over the stability of Nigeria’s power infrastructure, which has struggled to meet the energy demands of the country’s population.
